Sonamarg – Nature’s Bounty Unlimited

On 30th May 2012, at around 10.15 am, we left behind Pahalgam for our 140 km journey to Sonamarg. A few km of drive brought us to a place which is the starting point for rafting on the river Lidder. The river being very close to roadside and flowing parallel to it, gave me opportunity to capture some rafting action in my Handycam.........more.........

 

Pahalgam In The Lidder Valley

On 29th May 2012, around noon, leaving the scenic Gulmarg behind, we were in for a long haul of 150 km to reach our next destination Pahalgam.  At Rizk restaurant, Tangmarg, we had our lunch in peaceful ambience.  We retraced our trail towards Srinagar and did not know .........more...........

 

 Gulmarg – Gondolas, Glaciers and Grasslands In Kashmir

On 28th May 2012, around noon, returning from visit to Shankaracharya temple, Srinagar, we had another short break on Bouleward road for a few more snap shots of Dal lake and took to the trail to 24 km journey to Gulmarg. Around 1.30 am, hunger pangs made us take a break at Rizk hotel at Tangmarg, still a short distance of 11 km from our destination. We savored the lunch of Veg. fried rice .......more.........

 

 Srinagar after 30 years – Kashmir Valley

My first visit to Kashmir in 1982 is still fresh in memory.  A ten day trip comprised taking train to Jammu Tawi from Mumbai. Night halt was at sprawling Tourist Reception Centre, Jammu.  A visit to Raghunath temple  in the evening and whiling away some time in the city and winding up the day with a Kashmiri cuisine in one of the restaurant........more..........
